This powerful video features Walter Hill, the founder of SEBA, as he shares his experience from over 45 years ago. In it, Walter discusses one of the key reasons he started SEBA, reflecting on his passion for education and deep empathy for students, especially those who have experienced bullying and exclusion.
He highlights the importance of creating inclusive environments where every student feels valued and supported. The story he recounts from more than four decades ago reveals the pivotal moment that set him on his journey to make a difference.
Watch as Walter's heartfelt insights and commitment to empowering bullied and excluded students, along with fostering leadership and inclusion and life skills, shine through, inspiring us all to contribute to positive change.
"Through its leadership clubs, SEBA promotes a culture or empathy, support and ethical behavior. By focusing on leadership training and mentorship, SEBA nurtures well-rounded capable leaders. Students are empowered to make a positive impact in their communities demonstrating the values instilled by the program. Watching our high school students develop and use these leadership skills, transformed these young adults into successful adult leaders in their communities. This generation of leaders is making a significant impact in their local communities extending to a global influence."

Meet the leaders behind SEBA's mission.
I am a father of two sons and one daughter, and grandchildren. I work in the Tech field for the last 25+ years I'm a Solution Engineer for software companies and what I do is, fix their business problems in their corporate information systems and their business process, saving them time and money. I also run a nonprofit that does leadership building for high school students on a national scale, it's called SEBA, since 2010. I believe our future starts with our youth and the best way to affect the future. Before SEBA was a network organization here in Tucson, where I had 600 businesses.
I have volunteered over the years in a number of programs to help youth. They have included endeavors such as mentoring, tutoring, and Attention Deficit Disorder. I believe that all volunteer work is worthy and admirable, however, I get personal satisfaction when I can influence younger people and put them in a better place to help themselves in the future. I believe that the greatest strength of the SEBA philosophy is to train contemporaries to be the solution. It is one thing when a message is coming from adults, it is a much more potent and meaningful process when the solution, and in many cases godsend, is in the form of a peer.
I have 20 years of healthcare experience with a BA in disability studies and a doctorate in behavioral health. I'm passionate about empowering youth to control their own destiny and enabling them to carry the tools to design a successful future. I'm passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and are committed to helping them reach their full potential. Youth leadership is inspiring for a variety of reasons. For one, young people often have fresh ideas and perspectives that can challenge traditional ways of thinking and lead to innovative solutions to problems. They also have the potential to be incredibly resilient and resourceful in the face of adversity, which can be inspiring to witness.
With a decent understanding of human behaviors coupled with my journalism, marketing and theatre backgrounds, I know a little bit about a lot. Communication is key in every relationship and not everyone understands just one method of communication. I think I could prove helpful by teaching young people how to communicate differently and effectively depending upon with whom they are attempting to communicate. I would love to affect positive change in young people so that they grow into compassionate, intelligent and productive thinkers and community leaders.
As a former Firefighter, Engineer, and Realtor I have seen many types of leaders, some great and others that were a little abrasive. I truly believe that if we can instill a sense of servant leadership in our youth, it will allow them to lead by example and build trust in those around them. "For the greatest among us has come to serve and not to be served"
